Artist Jason Leith, wanting to know the people in this community on a personal level, made a journey out to skid row and sat down with individuals. Through the course of his conversations he was able to learn about their personal story, dreams, and aspirations, all the while drawing their portrait on reclaimed found objects with saint-like symbolism. These portraits were then displayed in the heart of skid row in a structure that was built using discarded street materials. Check out his website and artist mission statement and let me know what you think! -AG.

I am always amazed at what artists can accomplish. Jason seems very driven and successful in his mission. Building a structure out of found, re purposed material added to the statement of the exhibition.

Hi Ron, thank you for commenting! Yes, I too found it interesting how he built the structure out of found material. I feel that it gives a sense of humility.

Jason's artwork definitely caught my eye! I loved how he included each of these people's stories along with what he created.

Hi Carol! My favorite was the portrait and story of Thomas. I feel that the Bible verse is perfectly symbolized through the portrait and chosen material.

I wished I can talk to people, but I'm always afraid of meeting and greeting people. But, that how you know the world is. This artist had gain a valuable experience and it influences his artwork. My painting professor always ask us what the story behind our piece and Leith have a terrific meaning behind his.
